Audrey & Chris | Anniversary Session

There are certain friends who carry that graceful combination of being an uplifting, empowering and generous force all at the same time. We’ve had a whirlwind past month getting married to one another. Our own wedding was a gargantuan festival of rich colours, roars of laughter set against tender emotion. I woke that morning feeling pure calm. Blissfully excited. So ready. Comforted by the fact there was going to an awesome girl who was to help coordinate and distil the weeks of preparation into one ridiculously fun day - enter Mrs Audrey Abrams.

While our respective lives have become busier over the years, Audrey and I could fail to see one another for 6 months but the minute we meet up for a rare coffee, we’d chatter away animatedly as if we had caught up yesterday. Audrey had married the extremely handsome He-Who-Sports-Great-Beard Mr Christopher Abrams one year prior to us, and these two have a very special spot in our hearts. Here is their story:

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Audrey: We met at a house party. It was a set-up that ended up working – mostly because the mutual girlfriend responsible knew us both well, and used that knowledge cunningly. I was told me it was just a “girls night out”. Chris was instructed there was a nice girl he had to meet.  On the night, I was completely oblivious, meanwhile Chris felt obliged to talk to me because he thought I expected it. Looking back and laughing at the initial awkward start, we could tell from the very first conversation (as clichéd as this sounds), we both knew something meaningful had  occurred.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Chris: Little person, cute fringe. She had this big smile, bigger laugh, (and if there was such a term) bigger-er talker.

Audrey: Nice blue eyes, quietly confident, baggiest yellow shirt I have ever seen (it was his best shirt at the time).

HOW WAS YOUR WEDDING DAY

The wedding went by so quickly, everything was so beautiful, but the best part were the speeches by all those we loved and the all round happy vibe from our guests – it was like a jamboree!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR GOWN

My dress was made by Sherry of Sherry Bridal Couture. The dress had an organic, flowery embellished lace with an underlay of sequinned lace under a silk organza so it would sparkle when I moved. This was further embellished with pearl buttons, a draped bodice, and of course, flowers everywhere! It tied in perfectly the Spring time wedding we had.

WHAT'S YOUR ONE PIECE OF ADVICE TO BRIDES

"The most beautiful brides are the happy ones" – so forget all your plans on the day and just have fun! The best part actually starts once the wedding is over and your life together begins.

"MARRIAGE TO US NOW MEANS..."

Making the other person happy, putting aside your pride for the other person, having an awesome time chilling on the couch post-dinner watching “The Office”. And lots and lots of cuddles!
